It's birthday week! We're in full swing with party preparations and praying we don't get rained out!! Jacob's been loving on the Chocolate Chex we picked up at Publix lately so I thought it would make the perfect gooey treat for his party.
I love being able to serve some gluten-free goodies at parties because it means everyone can find something to munch on regardless of allergies. All Chex cereals are gluten-free as well as many other General Mills cereals. I was pleased to see that the gluten free Chocolate Cheerios and Lucky Charms have been added to our Publix as well! Right now you can save $1 when you purchase two select General Mills cereals. Get the coupon HERE.
But back to my treats. The Chocolate Chex are two toned which gives me the rustic jungle look I was going for. I prepared the treats just like the instructions on the marshmallow bag, substituting in the Chocolate Chex as the cereal component.
Once they were pressed down into a greased pan (use parchment paper to press it down to avoid it sticking to your hands!) I put them in the fridge to harden.
While they hardened in the fridge I started up a double broiler and melted some green colored melting chocolates. When it was nice and smooth and my treats were firm I cut them into rectangles and drizzled chocolate over each one.
Then I quickly added some green sugar sprinkles while the chocolate was still soft.
Another quick trip to the fridge and the chocolate was all hardened up and these babies were ready for our Wild Rumpus!
General Mills and Publix are giving away $15 PayPal Cash Gift to one of my readers! To enter, visit this link to get your $1 off coupon and to see all the new Gluten Free options. Then, leave a comment letting me know which one is your favorite! Giveaway ends Friday, June 17th at midnight.

ReplyDeleteOh I have to say my favorite is the Lucky Charms! I used to love these before I was diagnosed with Celiac disease about 10 years ago now. I am so glad that General Mills is making so many of their cereals gluten free! I love being able to have cereal for breakfast again!
