MPM: Dec 19 - 25th

December 23, 2011

I know this is very late, it's currently Friday, but its been a very busy week. And not a whole lot has been going on in our kitchen. You will soon see why.

Sunday: Dinner with our friends Mike and Danielle from Virginia at Sazio's in Delray Beach. I had the Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad and it was the best salad of my life. Baby Greens, Mandarin Oranges, Gorgonzola Cheese and Candied Pecans in a Balsamic Vinaigrette with a Honey Mustard Drizzle. I'm already dreaming of going back for more.

Monday: Dinner with Dan's Mom at Chris's Taverna in Lake Worth. Best Greek food around. We had gyro's and athenian chicken. Highly recommended.

Tuesday: Dinner with Dan's Mom, my Dad, Brother and Sister at Rocco's Taco's in Boca Raton. We had Strawberry Margharitas, Fresh Guacamole with chips, and just about every taco variety on their menu. We just happened to be there on Taco Tuesday and my brother took full advantage of all you can eat taco's. We love this place.

Wednesday: My sister made Pioneer Woman's BBQ Chicken and Pineapple Quesadillas. One of our favorites from her site.

Thursday: Dinner with the family at Cheesecake Factory in Boca Raton. We had fried mac n cheese for an apetizer, then I had madeira chicken and 30th anniversary chocolate cake cheesecake for dessert. I'm currently eating leftovers for breakfast. (cheesecake, not chicken)

Friday: Dinner with the family at Guanabanas in Jupiter.

Saturday: Dan's Birthday Dinner with the Family at The Melting Pot in Boca Raton.

Sunday: Christmas Dinner - Prime Rib, Duchess Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, Sweet Potato Casserole, rolls, Strawberry Pretzel Salad, Chocolate Peppermint Cake roll, monster cookies.

Alright, I'm trying to stay ahead this week..... I'm going to continue trying to use as much as I can of things I already have to keep grocery costs down. Here's the plan:

Monday: Crock Pot Italian Chicken & Egg Noodles, Green Beans

Tuesday: Pork Tenderloin & Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli

Wednesday: Soup & Biscuits

Thursday: Beef and Bean Nachos & Yellow Rice

Friday: Pan Fried Pork Chops & Rice, Corn

Saturday: Friends 5 year Anniversary Party

Sunday:  Breakfast for Dinner (French Toast sticks & Bacon)

MPM Nov. 28 - Dec. 4th

December 3, 2011
I know this is super late... and I think I forgot last week all together. It's a busy time of year and I haven't been planning as well as I'd like. This week I decided to take an idea from MoneySaving Mom called "Super Simple Supper" where you spend as little as possible, use what you already have, and spend as little prep time as possible making dinner. And then I decided to do this all week. It's been nice not spending lots of time at the grocery store or in the kitchen cooking. I did make a trip to Sams club where I picked up a pizza, bag of chicken breast, and some bulk packages of bisquits, cinnamon rolls, french toast sticks and hawaiian sweet rolls. I spent about $60 there, but those purchases will last about four weeks each. If I had to break it down for just this week it would be about $15. We had some mini bagels that I pulled from the freezer & cream cheese for weekday breakfasts. I always take leftovers for lunch.

Monday: Campbells Chicken Soup (from the pantry) and bisquits (from the fridge). $0

Tuesday: Sams Club Pizza. (This was huge and there was enough leftovers for two lunches). $0 already had from my trip to Sams.

Wednesday: Turkey, Swiss & Cranberry Chiabatta sandwiches. $0- these were all leftovers from Thanksgiving.

Thursday: Crock Pot Italian Chicken & Hawaiian Sweet Rolls. (Italian Dressing & Chicken, throw in the crock pot for 6 hours - doesn't get easier than that!). $1 for the dressing at the dollar store, already had the chicken and sweet rolls

Friday: Dinner with a friend at her house. $0 (Dan ate leftovers at home)

Saturday: Brunch - French Toast Sticks; Dinner - Ceasar Salad Wraps. $4 for the romaine and wraps at target, already have the FTS, chicken, Parmesan cheese and dressing

Sunday: Brunch - Cinnamon Rolls; Dinner - Bowtie Chicken Alfredo & Bisquits. $3 for the pasta & sauce at target, already have the cinnamon rolls and bisquits.

All together with the $15 figured from the Sams trip we spent about $23 on meals this week, and used up soup, bisquits, dressing, and cheese that we already had!

The Osborne Family Festival of Lights

November 27, 2011
If you are ever in Orlando between Thanksgiving and Christmas, you must, MUST, fork over the ridiculous amount of money required for a ticket to Disney's Hollywood Studios to see the light display. Donated by the Osborne Family, every night thousands and thousands of lights cover The Streets of America near the back of the park. It is breathtaking to watch all the lights dance in time to holiday tunes. I was determined to not do anything Christmas or holiday related until AFTER Thanksgiving, but watching this beautiful display you can't help but be in the Christmas Spirit. (The holiday fireworks over Cinderella's Castle the night before didn't help either!)
