Shamrock Season

February 22, 2011
I love St. Patrick's Day. And it's not because I'm Irish.

Or because I like to drink beer.

Or because I have the approximate height of a leprechaun.

Nope, it's because of this guy.

The Shamrock Shake.
From that gourmet eatery.... McDonalds.

You see, here in Florida, I only get one season. It's called Summer, and it lasts all year. To soothe my northern soul I have to make up seasons to distract myself from all that sunshine.

Girl Scout cookie season, Shamrock Shake season, Hurricane Season....Ok. Just kidding about that last one. I didn't make it up. But someone did. Post Valentine's Day to Mid March....One of my favorite Seasons.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to drink this minty goodness and enjoy my newest book.

I love (almost) free decor

February 20, 2011
A few weeks ago I found this great FREE printable at Simply Awesome Printables. (It's also available in solid brown, burgundy, or silver)

I've been debating for awhile what to do with it.

I grabbed a black frame at the dollar store and decided to hang it in the kitchen instead of the dining room because it matches the burgundy and silver theme going on there. Remember the clearance target towels?

The color scheme on this print is a perfect match.

I decided the best place to hang it was over the stove since that is where I spend most of my time in the kitchen. A nice reminder when I'm cooking :)
$1.00 well spent!

My Very Favorite Drink

February 19, 2011

The Tickled Pink Martini
from Bar Louie

First introduced to me by Tabitha. Perfect for relaxing after a long day at the zoo with 17 kindergartners. Side of pizza optional. Must consume at least two to achieve full affects.

Contains:
* X-rated Fusion Liquer
* Monin Pomegranate syrup
* Monin Mango puree
* fresh lime juice
* Sprite,
* lime or orange wedge

I have no idea how much of each and the bartenders aren't talkin. If anyone knows how much of each or where to by Monin products, drop me a line! I would love to be able to make this baby at home!!

Happy Valentine's

February 15, 2011
I know I'm a day late, but HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!
I spent the day with my very hyper Kindergartners then had a doctors appointment for a wellness checkup. I was VERY glad they did not draw blood. I have to fast for 6 hours first so they will do it over the summer.

Dan and I decided to stay in since we had recently eaten out for my birthday. I made Indian Spiced Pork Skewers which Dan grilled and Coconut Rice.

It was delicious and Dan brought home  Cold Stone cupcakes for dessert! Dan loved his Phillies hat I got him an I love my coach wallet that was my birthday/valentine's present. It matches my purse perfectly.

Today we booked our little getaway for our first anniversary.... I can't believe it's almost here already! We'll be taking a 4 day cruise out of Miami! We're going to para-sail in Key West and swim with Dolphins in Cozumel, two things we've never done before! Lots of firsts for our first anniversary :)

Life After Tomorrow

February 13, 2011
I know I just celebrated my 27th birthday, but I just saw this documentary which I think is really worth watching. It reminds me of my 9th birthday, 18 years ago! My dad and I went to see Annie the musical in Toronto. My dad got dressed up in his tux and I borrowed a fancy dress from one of the girls at church. I remember being enchanted by the girls on stage, but I had no idea just how hard things were for them on tour, or after their contracts were up. Very interesting!

Getting Organized: Tackling the Cookbooks.

February 9, 2011
On SuperBowl Sunday I decided to TACKLE the cookbooks. They have been driving me crazy cluttering up a corner of my dining room :

I once again turned to Targets ClosetMaid line, their expresso color matches all my furniture
Dan helped me build it, and now the corner looks so much neater! It gave me a space for my vase and branches and there is even room for me to get a small basket to hold odds and ends on the top shelf.

So much better! So to keep myself up to date my 2011 organizational list now looks like this:

The Garage.
The Dogs
My Cookbooks
Shoe Storage
The Desk/Office area
The Closets

The dogs are next! Waiting on my Mommy to get here to help me!

Doggie Dining: Lunch with Leo

February 5, 2011
This Saturday was absolutely beautiful so we took the recommendation of our good friend Jana and headed to Hurricane Alley. They are very pet friendly so we loaded up our little Leo to go with us.
When we got there they brought out drinks for everyone including Leo.
We were able to order for him off the doggie menu
and he loved his roast beef tips!
He ate them all and then begged for more.
We used his enthusiasm for beef ends to practice his new trick "dance" a little.
When our food came, Leo was so good. He sat and watched the other people, and laid down in the shade.

Never once did he bark or whine. Such a good puppy!
