Toddler Eats: Meaty Bowties

April 13, 2016

As promised in our round-up of favorite toddler meals, here is the recipe for Meaty Bowties. This was one of our favorite meals long before little man was born because it's so easy to make and so delicious! It was such a relief when he started solids and loved this dish! We continue to make it often as it's cheap, easy, and quick to put together after a long day at work.

Here's what you need:
1 Jar of Marinara or pasta sauce
1 box of bowtie pasta
approx. 1 cup of pepperoni
3 sweet italian sausage links
1 bag italian blend shredded cheese

And it couldn't be simpler to make!

1. Cook your pasta according to the directions on the box.

2. While your pasta is cooking, start browning your sausage in the pan, breaking it up as it cooks. We chose to use turkey sausage to make it a little healthier and couldn't taste a difference!

3. Once the sausage is browned, add in your pepperonis, saving just a few for the top. Give the pan a few stirs, then remove from heat.

3. Add your marinara sauce to the pan and stir it all together to finish your sauce.

4. Your pasta should be done cooking by now, drain it and then add half of it to a greased pan.

5. Layer about half of your sauce on top, followed by half of your cheese.

6. Repeat again, layering pasta, sauce, cheese. Top with extra pepperonis.

7. Cover with foil and bake in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes.

When it comes out of the oven it should be hot and delicious!

We like to serve it up with a simple side of broccoli and garlic bread.

It's a huge hit at our house!
