I've been meaning to cook for my dogs for a while now. Whenever I get my Rachael Ray magazine in the mail I always flip to the back to see what pet recipe she has in there. I figured Leo's 1st Birthday was a good opportunity to start. I settled on Chicken Pot - Hold - The - Pie, which was essentially a crustless pot pie. I was missing some ingredients so I substituted what I had after first making sure they were safe for dogs. Here's the recipe as I made it:
Chicken Pot - Hold - The - Pie
Chicken Pot - Hold - The - Pie
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/4 pound deli-sliced turkey, chopped
- 1 cooked Chicken Breast Chopped
- 1 cup mixed veggies, chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf parsley
Directions:
- In a small skillet, heat the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour for 1 minute, then whisk in the chicken broth and bring to a boil over high heat. Lower the heat and simmer until thickened, 2 to 3 minutes.
- Stir in the turkey, Chicken, veggies and parsley and cook until heated through, 2 to 3 minutes. Let cool to almost room temperature, then serve. Get ready for some wet kisses!
They both LOVED it!
Happy Dogs chowing away!
