Spring Break in St. Augustine | Tuesdays with Jacob

Spring Break in St. Augustine

March 25, 2015

This spring break Jacob and I loaded up our car, and traveled a few hours north to St. Augustine with my parents. Before I tell you all about our fun, let me mention the unsung heroes of our trip:

1. The Chicco Liteway Plus and an Aden + Anais Swaddle Blanket. Little man napped in here on the go all week. We put the stroller on full recline, threw the swaddle on top, and started walking. A few minutes later, he was down for his regularly schedule naps. Lifesaver.

2. Munchkin Rubber Duck bathtub. Since we were going to be gone more than a few days we were going to need to bathe Jacob. We first tried to put his infant tub in our car, but with all of our other luggage and baby gear it just wasn't going to fit. Luckily we also had the munchkin tub from a baby shower. Since it's an inflatable tub, we were able to travel with it deflated then blow it up once we got to the hotel taking up minimal space. As a bonus, lil guy loved the quacking sounds the beak makes.

Now, onto our week in St. Augustine!!

We loaded up the car late Wednesday morning and made a quick pit stop in Vero Beach for lunch.

We arrived in St. Augustine late Wednesday afternoon and checked into the hotel before walking around historic St. George street and getting dinner at the Floridian. Which we highly recommend!

Jacob did not sleep well in the pack and play like he did when we went to Orlando. He started out okay and then woke up around 1am and would not be consoled. He ended up in my bed where he finally fell asleep.

And yet, he still woke up at 6 am!! We ate breakfast at Les Petite Pleasures french bakery. Which was delicious!! Jacob ate some egg from a breakfast sandwich, and some crepe, and potato from my 'mountain crepe'

After breakfast it was time to see some sights!! We spent most of the day touring The mission, Fountain of youth, and the Old Jail.

The Mission and surrounding park were beautiful.

Then we walked down the most gorgeous tree covered street to the Fountain of Youth park. The water from the fountain tasted like minerals and was not very good.

There were lots of Peacocks roaming around and man are they loud!!

Jacob fell asleep near the end of our Fountain visit and took a nice nap. He woke up just in time to eat some soft pretzel and tour the Old Jail with us.

Jacob especially loved the little rocking chairs out front.

After our long day we went back to the hotel to relax before heading back down to St. George street for dinner. We ate at Harry's Seafood which was also very good. We got some ice cream after, which everyone enjoyed except Jacob who hates how cold it is.

Jacob once again ended up in my bed that night after becoming inconsolable around 11pm. He started out great in his pack and play!

Friday morning we got a late brunch at Le Pavillion which Jacob slept right through. Then we headed to the fort Castillo de San Marcos.

After our hot morning at the fort we grabbed some popsicles at the Hyppo which has the most amazing gourmet popsicles! We tried pina colada, guava hibiscus, and plum sangria. Jacob only liked the sticks.

Then we headed back to the hotel for a swim and an afternoon nap.

It was getting late and restaurants were crowded since it was a Friday night during spring break so we grabbed dinner at the hotel restaurant that night. Jacob slept all night in the pack and play that last night, which was a relief.

Saturday morning we packed up the car then made one last walk down St. George street while Jacob napped. He woke up just in time to eat waffles with us at Costeau's Waffles and Milkshake Bar.

And then it was time to head home. It was a wonderful trip!
